Torn or split earlobes can occur due to trauma, the use of "guages", or after long-term use of heavy earrings. This often results in damage to the earlobe ranging from widening of the area of the piercing to a complete tear of the earlobe. If this occurs, a simple office based procedure, performed by Dr. Melissa Lazarus, can be used to repair the tear. The earlobe can then be re-pierced by the doctor 6 weeks after the repair.
