Contouring and Volumizing Fillers

Dermal soft tissue fillers are flexible substances that can be injected into the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plump and reshape lips, fill hollow cheeks, repair various facial imperfections, improve scars, and elevate deep folds. Dr. Lazarus uses a variety of soft tissue fillers. The most versatile of which are the products made from hyaluronic acid (Restylane-L®/Perlane-L®, Restylane® Silk, Juvederm® Ultra XC/Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC®, Juvederm Voluma™ XC, Belotero Balance® and Prevelle® Silk). The growing number of available fillers has greatly expanded the anti-aging and skin-saving treatments that dermatologists offer, and all are available in formulations with lidocaine, a numbing agent, already mixed into the filler substance, making for a more comfortable experience. Since fillers do not involve major surgery and are generally cost-effective, men and women are using these youth-enhancing techniques now more than ever. In general, dermal fillers can last from 4-9 months, depending on the substance injected and on each person's individual ability to absorb the substance. Juvederm Voluma™ XC
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel is the first and only filler FDA-approved for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring, hydrating substance found in your skin. As you age, you start to lose HA, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume. Sometimes, prominent “smile lines” and wrinkles in the cheeks are due to sagging of the skin in the cheek area, not just wrinkling from smiling. What makes JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC unique, is that it is has been specially formulated to give a natural appearing and subtle “lift” in the cheek area, creating a more youthful appearance, and overall improvement in facial wrinkles.

Sculptra™ is a biocompatible, biodegradable material that has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue and other types of surgical implants. It can be used to correct moderate to severe facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, which is the loss of fat beneath the skin resulting in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Lipoatrophy can occur with aging, scarring, and certain disease processes. Because it is injected in large quantities below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss and can stimulate an increase in skin thickness, it is particularly useful for deeper furrows and facial wasting related to aging and/or HIV. This product works by stimulating your body to makes its own collagen, creating a natural appearance and feel. No skin testing is required, but multiple injections are generally recommended in order to achieve optimal clinical improvement.
